Objectives
Pixelworks, an Oregon-based manufacturer well-known for its circuits and customizable software tools that optimize video and computer graphics signals to produce high-quality images in digital televisions, projectors and computer monitors, operates through nine international facilities spanning the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. Until recently, the offices were using separate information systems that did not effectively communicate with each other. The company was experiencing rapid growth and could no longer be supported by the technology without consolidating those systems.
To further complicate the situation, maintaining offices across international borders can present a variety of challenges in auditing and reporting. While the company needed a single system to consolidate their business processes, they also needed the system to be customized for each separate location—a tool tuned to gather information that would meet the unique compliance requirements and restrictions placed on businesses with foreign offices in those areas.
Approach
OSI Consulting’s expert consultants responded to the company’s needs, implementing Oracle Financials and Purchasing modules at their distributed facilities. Each office in Asia now runs live Oracle modules tailored to the individual compliance requirements at their separate location. OSI Consulting provided Pixelworks with:
- Evaluations to decide what business processes were necessary, what the old system was lacking and what customizations needed to be made to Oracle to fit the requirements of each location.
- Design and implementation of Oracle Financials and Purchasing into a scalable information hub fully integrated with other parts of their critical business systems.
Results
Pixelworks’ Asian offices are already seeing a number of benefits from the new modules. They have gained worldwide, around-the-clock access to all of their financial and purchasing data in an information system that will grow with them. In addition to providing on-demand visibility into their critical information, Oracle Financials and Purchasing now help them to automatically collect information needed for audits and reporting that would otherwise be complex and expensive to gather.
