OSI Consulting helped integrate Northrop Grumman’s systems for easy access to information; enabling continued future growth.
Objectives
Northrop Grumman Corporation’s human resources department is responsible for administering payroll and benefits to more than 125,000 current employees, 20,000 retirees, and their spouses and children. Benefits participants need around-the-clock access to information and services dedicated to medical insurance, pensions, 401(k) plans and other benefits—a challenge for any large company to provide.
In addition, Northrop Grumman has acquired many different businesses over the past several years. Each of those businesses joined the company with their own HR information systems, personnel and methods already in place, complicating the consolidation of business processes. The company needed assistance with:
- Combining outsourced benefits call centers with computational resources.
- Creating communication pathways between human resources, insurance providers and benefits recipients.
- Synchronizing a motley collection of payroll functions with business processes.
- Creating and supporting staff transition to an integrated, shared service model for all recent and future corporate acquisitions.
- Providing support for Sarbanes Oxley audit compliance procedures.
Approach
Northrop Grumman turned to OSI Consulting for business expertise, technology know-how, and a proven track record of turning disparate applications and technologies into integrated enterprise resources. OSI Consulting assumed leadership in integrating the employee information from twenty-six different HR systems so that every beneficiary and HR employee could access crucial information and services at any time. OSI Consulting provided:
- A fulltime, dedicated staff of OSI Consulting employees to manage and engineer the consolidation.
- Training of the HR staff for full efficiency in the new corporate system.
- System delivery and integration of the new tax compliance features.
Results
With OSI Consulting’s business expertise and management, Northrop Grumman received a significant return on investment and combined their fragmented infrastructures, applications, and HR departments into an integrated model ready for future growth. The process also meets Sarbanes Oxley regulatory compliance for HR and benefits administration across the corporation.
